With an acoustically “true” control room and a great sounding live room, the VIP Lounge is the perfect place to record and mix your tracks. Our ethos is to allow your creativity to come through so your music can reach its full potential. And hopefully we’ll all have a lot of fun in the process.

The VIP Lounge is one of the only studios in the country to offer a choice between digital and analogue recording.

Digital recording takes place when the instrument or voice is recorded onto the computer’s hard drive via a mixing desk and an analogue to digital (A/D) converter. The advantage of digital recording is that it is cheaper and more flexible.

Analogue recording involves recording onto tape – like in the old days! At the VIP Lounge this involves recording onto a fully serviced Tascam MSR24S 24 track tape recorder. The advantage of analogue is simply the sound. Due to the time necessary to set up an analogue recording session, we we can only accept bookings of at least five days. The price for an analogue session is the same as digital, but remember to factor in the cost of tape. As a guide, a reel of tape costs in the region of £100 and lasts approximately half an hour.

The studio is fully equipped with a large range of quality microphones and all the instruments listed under studio can be used by clients including our collection of vintage guitars.

If headphone monitoring is required, we only use quality Beyer headphones and a separate distributor can provide up to three different mixes. In other words, in the case of a three piece band, each member can have a mix to suit his or her requirements.

Mixing takes place in the control room using three sets of monitors all powered by industry standard amplifiers. Mixing can be done with clients on hand or online. Given the appeal of the area in which the studio is located, why not combine a holiday with the mixing of your album?
